Umaru Napoleon Koroma, former National Secretary General of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP), has denied claims circulating on social media that Le 1 billion went missing from the party’s accounts during his tenure, as alleged by the First Lady, Fatima Bio.

“My attention has been drawn to a video circulating on social media making baseless claims about funds ‘vanishing’ from the SLPP account during the previous executive’s tenure,” Koroma said. “I want to clarify unequivocally that no funds went missing. All expenses made under our leadership followed proper procedures and were supported by legitimate documentation.”

Koroma welcomed a full audit of the party’s finances conducted by the current executive, asserting confidence that such an examination would confirm the integrity and transparency of his administration. He also urged party leaders and stakeholders to exercise caution in making statements that could create divisions or undermine those who have dedicated themselves to the party. “Such actions not only create divisions within our party but also portray us differently. This, without a doubt, jeopardizes the unity of our great party,” he said.
