The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), Babadi Kamara, today participated in the opening of a two-day National Consultative Conference organized by the Ministry of Sports at the Occasion View Resort in Lakka.

The conference, led by the Minister of Sports, Madam Augusta James-Teima, brings together stakeholders from across various sporting disciplines to review and deliberate on five key draft sports policies. These include:

Proposed amendments to the National Sports Authority Act 2017

The National Sports Policy

Draft National Sports Code of Conduct One (1)

Draft Code of Conduct Two (2) for National Associations and Federations

Draft Sports Policy on Ranking and Funding of Associations

Draft Gender Policy on Sports

Representing the football sector, President Kamara commended the Ministry for the initiative and affirmed SLFA’s full support for the outcomes of the discussions. He reiterated his commitment to elevating football administration in Sierra Leone to international standards, emphasizing the importance of such consultative platforms in shaping sustainable policy reforms.

He also underscored the need for the SLFA to autonomously manage football affairs—particularly the National Senior Men’s Team, Leone Stars—in line with global best practices. This, he noted, would prevent overlaps in responsibilities and ensure more efficient administration of the sport and national teams.

President Kamara concluded by reaffirming that under his leadership, the SLFA remains committed to collaboration, policy engagement, and the overall advancement of football and sports development nationwide.
