The National Publicity Secretary of the All Peoples Congress (APC), Alhaji Sidi Yayah Tunis, has criticized the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) for what he described as a failure to take ownership of the country’s challenges, despite holding power for more than seven years.

Speaking in an interview on AYV Television’s Wake Up Sierra Leone programme, Tunis argued that the government has had ample time to deliver on its promises but has instead resorted to repeatedly blaming the opposition.

“If you can stay in power for seven years and still blame the opposition for your failures as a government, then you are not fit for purpose. Governance is about fixing the problems of the country, not blaming your predecessor for your shortcomings,” he remarked.

He maintained that effective governance demands accountability, vision, and decisive leadership, qualities he insists the current administration has failed to demonstrate.

Tunis further assured the public that the APC is prepared to provide what he called a “credible alternative,” one that would prioritize addressing citizens’ concerns and restoring trust in national leadership.
