Sierra Leone’s Deputy Minister II of Energy, Edmond Nonie, Highlights Cross-Border Energy Trading and EGTC Generation for Energy Stability at ADIPEC 2024 in Abu Dhabi

The Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC), now celebrating its 40th anniversary, remains one of the world’s foremost energy events, expected to attract over 160,000 industry professionals from more than 160 countries.

Held from November 4 to November 7 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, ADIPEC 2024 will bring together global leaders from major energy consortiums, international corporations, and government agencies.

This milestone year will see the attendance of prominent figures, including His Highness the Sheikh of Abu Dhabi, the Secretary General of OPEC, and other esteemed dignitaries, underscoring ADIPEC’s role as a key platform for advancing the future of energy.Among the event’s highlights will be the panel on “Transforming Energy Solutions for Sustainable Development in Emerging Markets,”

featuring Sierra Leone’s Deputy Minister II of Energy, Hon. Edmond Nonie. The Deputy Minister was joined on stage by the Secretary General of OPEC, Ministers of Energy from Uganda and Crypus, with the John Defterios formerly from CNN as the moderator.

The conference also includes senior representatives from BP, ExxonMobil, Masdar Energy Centre, and the energy investors in the UAE to discuss strategic approaches for sustainable energy infrastructure and firm generation capacity in emerging economies.

Deputy Minister II Nonie’s appearance at ADIPEC reaffirms Sierra Leone’s commitment to advancing President Julius Maada Bio’s “Big 5” Agenda, which identifies energy as a critical enabler of national progress in infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, and economic development.

Central to this vision is the Salone 4 Light Campaign, a national initiative aimed at scaling both energy generation and transmission capabilities to deliver reliable power to communities across Sierra Leone. In the coming months, Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Energy is set to make significant improvements in generation and transmission infrastructure to support sustainable national development.
