Babadi Kamara, the Executive Chairman of Bo Rangers Football Club, made a significant contribution to the Pujehun District Football Association (PDFA) by donating One Hundred and Fifty Million Old Leone (NLe 150,000 New Leone) to support the Inter-Chiefdom Football Competition.
The tournament officially kicked off at the Pujehun Town Field on Saturday, 2nd November 2024, with Babadi Kamara receiving a warm welcome from the people of Pujehun. He was accompanied by a delegation of key football stakeholders, including chairmen of District and Regional Football Associations, sports journalists, and other influential figures in the football community.
Alphan Konneh, the chairman of the Pujehun District Football Association, expressed his gratitude to Babadi Kamara for his generous contribution towards the 3rd edition of the Inter-Chiefdom Football Competition, emphasising the importance of the competition in unifying the 14 Chiefdoms in the District and nurturing young talents.
He also seized the opportunity to appeal to Babadi Kamara to support the completion of the District FA’s building project, which has been stalled due to financial constraints.
Joseph Benedict Gbogba, Chairman of the Southern Region Football Association, commended the people of Pujehun for their support and hospitality towards Babadi Kamara. He declared his support for Kamara’s bid to become the next SLFA President assuring that the 9 delegates in his region are strongly backing Babadi for the top seat, and encouraged others to rally behind him.
Gbogba described Babadi as a Godsend and urged everyone to support his ambition for the betterment of the game in the country.
In his address, Babadi Kamara expressed his gratitude to the people of the District. He underscored his ties to the district and his commitment to developing football talent.
Babadi Kamara highlighted the importance of fair play, good behaviour and staying away from violence and drug abuse in football. He also shared his vision for football development in the country, including projects like the construction of the Southern Arena, which aim to contribute to the growth of football and never meant for personal gains.
As a gesture of support, Babadi Kamara presented 45 footballs to the participating teams, which was gratefully received by the District FA Chairman. The donation will help provide necessary equipments for the players and further promote football development in the region.
