Let me introduce our qualifier for the Olympic Games in Paris. Olamiday Elizabeth Sam, who has been proudly carrying our country’s flag to the highest levels, is making her highly anticipated debut on the world stage. She first showcased her talent in Japan in 2022, where she began earning crucial points, followed by impressive performances in Qatar and Angola in 2023, ultimately securing her qualification for the Olympics in Paris, France. She was also awarded a scholarship by World Aquatics to study swimming at the Thanyapura Camp in Thailand, further honing her skills.
Olamiday will be competing in the 50-meter freestyle event, a thrilling race that attracts 852 of the fastest swimmers from around the globe, spanning 35 events. Due to her outstanding entry timing, Olamiday has earned a direct spot in the quarterfinals, setting the stage for a remarkable performance.
We have high hopes for Olamiday as she represents our nation with pride and excellence
