The management of New Brookfields Hotel has issued a formal response to a letter requesting the hotel to distance itself from the alleged unlawful and unprocedural conduct of Augustine Sorie-Sengbe Marrah and Wara Serry-Kamal, who announced an Extraordinary General Meeting in the name of the Sierra Leone Bar Association without legal authority

In their statement, the management addressed the concerns raised:”I write in reference to the letter dated July 8, 2024, received at the hotel on July 9, 2024. New Brookfields Hotel is foremost a business that provides event space and rooms to customers who wish to host events or stay at our premises. When we received the booking from our client, there was no notice given to us that there would be a contention over whether they can host it with us or not. At the point of booking, we entered into an agreement with the client to host them at the hotel.

We have taken legal advice and have been informed that we will need a court injunction to prevent the meeting from going ahead on July 10, 2024, at 2 pm. We kindly request you provide us with a court injunction that we can use as legal backup should the client have their event canceled.”The hotel’s management emphasized that their primary role is to offer event space and accommodations to clients. They highlighted that no prior indication was given regarding any disputes or legal issues surrounding the event at the time of booking.

New Brookfields Hotel is seeking a court injunction to legally support any potential cancellation of the event, ensuring compliance with legal procedures and protecting their business interests. This response clarifies the hotel’s position and underscores their commitment to operating within legal boundaries while providing services to their clients. The outcome now hinges on the provision of a court injunction to address the concerns raised.
