The Government of Sierra Leone has lifted the nationwide curfew, effective immediately.
In a significant development for the nation, the curfew imposed following the attempted coup on November 26, 2023, has been officially lifted, effective today, 20th of December 2023.
The public is urged to exercise caution and maintain collective vigilance during the upcoming festive period. The government extends its gratitude to the public for their ongoing cooperation with the security forces in the pursuit of those responsible for the failed coup attempt.
Speaking on behalf of His Excellency, President Brig. Rtd Dr. Julius Maada Bio, Vice President Dr. Juldeh Jalloh, cabinet ministers, and the entire government, a statement conveyed warm wishes for a peaceful, blessed, and prosperous holiday season to all citizens. The call to uphold the National Pledge, prioritizing the interests of Sierra Leone, reechoed in the message.
The Ministry of Information and Civic Education assures the public of continued timely updates as the nation progresses into the holiday season with a sense of renewed normalcy.
Sierra Leoneans are encouraged to celebrate responsibly and contribute to the overall well-being of the nation as it moves forward from recent challenges.
