Chief Ibrahim Brima Swaray, the Commissioner General of the National Revenue Authority (NRA), has successfully signed a contract with Lurubasa Investment for the construction of an administrative and commercial complex. The signing took place on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at Wilkinson Road in Freetown.
As outlined in the contract, the complex will consist of an eight-story administrative building with basements, canteens, car parks, a roof garden, and relaxation and daycare centres for staff.
The eight floors will accommodate various support departments, including HR, Legal and Corporate Services, Finance and Budgets, Information Technology (IT), Monitoring Research and Planning, Modernization, Internal Controls and Audits, and the Commissioner General’s office. Additionally, the commercial building will house offices for operational departments such as Domestic Tax, Non-Tax Revenue, and Customs Service, along with other recreational facilities for the NRA.
The project is expected to be completed within a timeframe of twenty-four months, commencing from the date of contract signing.
For several years, the National Revenue Authority NRA has grappled with significant accommodation challenges, forcing the Board and Management to seek lodging options wherever feasible. CG Swaray emphasized that considerable resources have been invested in accommodation within the institution over the years. However, with the construction of this new complex, it is expected that this long-standing problem will be resolved once and for all.
