One of the leading telecommunications networks in Sierra Leone, Orange, has held a one-day engagement with media institutions on Friday, 2nd June 2023, to update them about their achievements and the introduction of new products from 2022 till date.
The Deputy Chief Commercial Officer, Bollor Sesay, expressed his sincere congratulations to the media for their outstanding efforts in promoting Orange products. He praised their work in showcasing these products and acknowledged the media’s role as a platform for listening to feedback and promoting services. Sesay highlighted the crucial role the media has played in enhancing the company’s reputation and fostering its growth.
The President of Sierra Leone Association of Journalists (SLAJ), Ahmed Sahid Nasralla, commended the long-standing relationship between SLAJ and Orange SL. He acknowledged the substantial support provided by Orange in terms of advertising and other key initiatives.
The President specifically mentioned Orange’s financial assistance to journalists for furthering their education, making them the first company to support the media in such a way. The President also expressed gratitude for Orange’s support towards election coverage, emphasizing the company’s adherence to compliance standards. He urged the media to remain independent and serve the public objectively.
Naomi, the spokesperson for Orange Money, stated, “We are thrilled to introduce Orange Money Lajor, a service that will provide digital loans to our subscribers with a seamless experience. This major update is a testament to our commitment to delivering innovative financial solutions to our valued customers.”
She affirmed that addressing the ongoing need for enhanced accessibility, Orange Money also launched a new system enabling customers to utilize Orange Money services across all networks in Sierra Leone. Previously it was limited to the Orange network provider. This development allows users to conveniently access Orange Money regardless of their mobile network operator. The move aims to create a more inclusive and convenient financial ecosystem for all Orange Money subscribers in Sierra Leone.
Memunatu Sesay also provided an update on the Orange Foundation, highlighting its focus on the education pillar through the construction of schools and its efforts to address health issues in collaboration with partner organizations. She also emphasized the Foundation’s dedication to promoting gender equity.
The media update served as a platform for Orange to acknowledge the invaluable support of the media, share the company updates, and to reaffirm their commitment to corporate social responsibility.
