The cheapest and the most affordable company in Sierra Leone Qcell SL in partnership with the Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) on Friday, 16th December 2022, launched a new product called QPower, being the first of its kind by Qcell Sierra Leone. The QPOWER service allows QCell customers to purchase EDSA Top-up using their QCell lines.
Speaking during the event, the CEO of Qcell Sierra Leone, Jayamani Karthik, affirmed that this service is very unique and user-friendly done in partnership with EDSA, He added that this service will enable all Qcell customers to purchase EDSA units by using their Qcell Airtime and not mobile money. He emphasized that this service will create easy access to purchase EDSA units nationwide.
According to the Director General of EDSA, Abu Kamara, this was done to maximize revenue for EDSA but also to create ease for all EDSA customers in purchasing electricity tokens. He stated that EDSA as an entity will not be able to satisfy and meet customers’ requirements across the country but that this partnership will create ease in doing business. He concludes by saying that this is a very significant day for both EDSA and Qcell and they will continue to collaborate to optimize this relationship.
The Director General of the National Telecommunications Authority (NaTcA), Daniel B. Kaitibi, extended thanks to Qcell for bringing QPower and wished that in the future he hopes they introduce Qmoney which will create easy access for the people of Sierra Leone.
