The Director General of the National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), Mohamed Fuaad Daboh, has been elected as a member of the Bureau of the International Social Security Association (ISSA) for the period 2023 – 2025. The election took place during the 39th session of the Council of the ISSA in Marrakech, Morocco, on the 28th of October 2022.
In his letter to Mr. Daboh, the ISSA Secretary General, Marcelo Abi-Ramia Caetano, stated thus: “On behalf of the President of the Association, Dr. Mohammed Azman bin Aziz Mohammed, I should like to take this opportunity to welcome you to this important statutory body and express our sincere satisfaction at being able to count upon your valuable cooperation”.
The ISSA Bureau constitutes the administrative authority of the Association, and is composed of the President of the ISSA, the Treasurer, the Secretary-General, and elected members representing the different geographical regions of the world. It meets at least once every calendar year, and NASSIT as an institution is entitled to retain this seat until the expiry of the present mandate at the closing of the 40th Session of the ISSA Council, which will take place during the World Social Security Forum in 2025.

It could be recalled that when Mr. Daboh was appointed as Director General of NASSIT by His Excellency the President, Brigadier (Rtd) Dr. Julius Maada Bio, he has transformed the Trust into an enviable institution where work processes and procedures are followed, an improvement in the compliance rate, the prompt and timely payment of benefits, the upgrade of the ICT infrastructure, among others.
Recently, the Trust held a National Members Conference at the Freetown International Conference Centre and the finals of the Inter-secondary schools’ quiz competition at the Freetown City Council as part of its 20thAnniversary celebrations.
“Today, NASSIT as the country’s only social security institution is on a positive trajectory under the leadership of Mohamed Fuaad Daboh,” stated Mr. Eustace Cole, a NASSIT pensioner.
