A source in Freetown said the Government of Sierra Leone will lay to rest civilian victims of the August 10 protest in Freetown today, Saturday October 15, outside the capital.

The protest left 27 dead including 6 police officers. The police casualties were given a state funeral weeks ago.

But for over two months now, government has kept the 21 civilian casualties in the government mortuary in Freetown and refused handing them over to their families for burial without any reasonable explanation.

Some of the bereaved families said they have made several attempts to get their relatives handed over to them but the government has refused.
