As DR. KAIFALA MARAH TAKES THE LEAD: APC KOINADUGU UPDATES ITS MEMBERSHIP
On Friday, 4th February 2022, the APC party in Koinadugu District, updated its membership on a host of trending political issues including the Political Parties Registration Commission’s recommendations on the reviewed APC party Constitution and intending changes in the reviewed National Constitution as planned by the ruling SLPP Government.
Addressing members earlier, the Chairman of APC Koinadugu District said the update is to keep members abreast with political developments in and out of the party so that they can be able to collectively determine a formidable way for the success of the party in the forthcoming local council and general elections.
He called on party members to rally together and go for those areas within the district that appear to be shaky in their total support for the APC. He particularly called on the women to consolidate their ranks, go out and bring onboard their fellow women.
He called on the party Executive and all other structures to consider the critical roles the women of APC in Koinadugu District have played and continue to play in making the party more attractive and vibrant and ensuring confidence amongst members even as the party is in opposition.
He called for party consolidation and strengthening especially around the women who huge turnout at the meeting he described as “impressive” and on that note pointed out, “as we galvanize and consolidate our ranks ahead of the coming elections, let’s maintain the support and increasing population of women that are attracted to our party as we cannot afford to lose any of them now and moving forward.”
On the end of year carnival organized by the party in Kabala, Dr. Marah said it was an indication of party’s growing popularity and the high confidence level of members.
Dr. Marah encouraged the membership of the APC in Koinadugu District to immediately begin preparations for the local council and general elections by putting in place programmes and strategies that will ensure a landslide victory for the party in the 2023 elections. and how to win it.
He encouraged party members to turn up for voter registration anytime it is due, noting that it is only when members register would they be able to vote for their MPs and Councilors.
Dr. Marah furthermore debunked a trending political propaganda by the SLPP that it is an arrangement that any political party in power should serve ten years, by positing that if that was the case, there would have been no need for a periodic election after every five years.
“It is a lie. It is aimed at confusing you resolve to vote them out of office in 2023,” Dr. Marah pointed out to his audience.
Updates were given by the party’s District Secretary General, Karifa Kargbo, who stressed the need for the APC, as the good shepherd, to go in search of its lost sheep in Karakoh Sukurala and Badembaia as he notes with optimism, the growing popularity of the APC in those communities.
Update was also given by Mrs. Kadie Koroma, President of the APC Women’s Congress in Koinadugu District, confirming the phenomenal popularity of the APC amongst the women and young girls of the district.
Speaking on the need for collaboration with their make folks in the party, Mrs. Koroma maintained, “We want to work side by side with our male folks in pushing our collective aspirations as a party.”
Hon. Daniel Koroma gave updates on the PPRC recommendations on the revised APC Constitution and drew the attention of his audience to certain critical changes intended by the ruling SLPP Government on the National Constitution as maintained in the Government White Paper including a proposed Proposal Representation System to elect Members of Parliament and the entrenched clause protecting the tenure of the Vice President in office.
Update was given by the Veterans Council represented by Chief Abu Kawusu Konteh and he pledged the commitment and support of the Council in fostering and consolidating peace and cohesion between members of the party.
