8 Players Die in Gruesome Road Accident in Bombali

The North East Region Football Association (NERFA) is saddened by the tragic news of the loss of 8 players from 5 communities in Makeni, Bombali District.

The players are said to have been involved in a fatal road accident between Makoth and Makarie/Freetown highway on 28th of February 2021 on  their way to Makeni after  playing a successful Community Football Gala in Batkanu.

NERFA is expressing  heartfelt condolences to the Bombali District Football Association (BDFA) and the families of the departed souls. We stand in solidarity with the BDFA and families at this trying time.

As a sign of respect for our departed brothers, the NERFA has therefore suspended all football activities within the Bombali District until the players are laid to rest as it continues to monitor and pray for the speedy recovery of other players who are in critical condition in hospital.

    May their innocent souls continue to rest in peace. And I wish those in the hospital to have speedy recovery from there, the hospital beds are not their portion in Jesus’ name… The banner over us all is love.
