Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority Increases Cost of Driver’s License

The Sierra Leone Road Safety Authority (SLRSA) has announced an increment in the Five Years driver’s license tariffs, effective Monday, 22 April 2024. According SLRSA this decision follows careful consideration of current economic conditions, inflation rates, and the need is maintain high standards in road transport services.

Belows are the Justification for Increment:

Inflation. Operational expenses have significantly increased due to global inflation The adjustment in license tariffs is necessary to cover these rising costs and ensure the sustainability of SLRSA operations.


Quality Maintenance: Maintaining quality services, including road maintenance and safety measures, requires adequate funding.

The increment in license tariffs will enable SLRSA to uphold these standards and enhance road safety for all road users Breakdown of driver’s License by Categories and Increment:
1 A Motor Bike Riders License only: New cost 560

  1. A Tricycle License only New cost 560
  2. AA+ Motor Bikes and Tricycle New cost 560
  3. B For Driving Cars Jeeps, Vans New cost 1,100
  4. C For driving trucks only. New cost 1,1506. D Excavators, Earth Moving Equipment New cost. 1,200
  5. AB Motor Bikes, cars, Jeeps New cost 1,450
  6. BC Cars Jeeps trucks: New Cost 1,500
  7. CD Trucks and Earth Moving equipment: New cost 1,550

10.ABC Motor Bikes, Cara, Jeeps, Trucks: New cost 1,600

  1. BCD Jeeps Trucks, Earth moving Equipment: New Cost 1,650
  2. ABCD All Category (Professional): New Cost 1,700

As the new driver’s license tariffs will be effective from Monday 22 April, 2024, SLRSA has assured that it will will ensure a smooth transition process for all driver’s license holders, providing adequate notice and support for compliance.
SLRSA believes that the increment in driver’s license tariffs is a necessary step to maintain quality services and enhance road safety in Sierra Leone adding that they committed to its mandate of ensuring a safe and efficient road transport system for all citizens.
