Kent Cricket Club has been expelled by Cricket Sierra Leone at the 2023 Annual General Meeting (AGM). Fifty-two delegates voted to expel Kent Cricket Club from the realms of CSL for what the Member’s Council referred to as ‘consistent anti-cricket activities and flagrant breach of the Constitution of CSL’.
According to CSL, the Club was first expelled in 2013 for challenging the CSL Board and for undermining the image of the Company. Out of 17 clubs, fifteen voted in favour of the expulsion, with the two abstaining.
Regretting the act in 2013, Kent Management apologized and asked for readmission on promise to maintain decorum that is consistent with the Constitution of CSL. They were then readmitted until the recent expulsion based on similar charges.They was expelled under Article 9.6.2 of Cricket Sierra Leone’s Memorandum and Articles of Association 2020.
At the AGM, the removal of two board members for anti-board member dealings, a matter the Council voted on at the last AGM, was sealed and the vacancies announced with the Board promising to outline steps it would take to fill the gaps.
Pursuant to CSL’s M&A 2020, an Ethics Committee for the Arbitration of Cricket was established and arbitrators appointed to enforce the Ethics Code of CSL 2020. Internal disputes will be handled by this Committee, whose composition is gender-balanced.
Four new members were admitted: two associations (Sierra Leone Coaches Association and Sierra Leone Cricketers Association) and two clubs (Metro Stars Cricket Club and China Town Cricket Club
