Zonta International is a service club that has successfully empowered women worldwide through service and advocacy for more than 100 years. In Sierra Leone Zonta Club (founded in 1970) has successfully empowered women and girls through service and advocacy with a focus on ending child marriage, saying no to gender base violence amongst girls and women and closing the gender gap through education for the past 50 years.
Ore Awoonor-Renner joined Zonta Club of Freetown in 1994 and rose very quickly up the ranks. First, as club Secretary then President in 1996. Over the years she has served Zonta on the local, district and international levels as a Director on the Board, the Membership Chair, and Lt. District Governor.
Other members of the Zonta Club of Freetown that have served as District Governors, include Zon. Yinka Koso-Thomas and Zon. Clara Robbin-Coker.
District 18 covers the following countries, Nigeria, Ghana, Cote D’ivoire, Togo, Benin, Uganda, Senegal, Burkina Faso, West Africa E-Club in Ghana and Sierra Leone.
