The National Secretary General of the main opposition All People’s Congress (APC), Lansana Dumbuya Esq., has declared that he will not be intimidated by threats of imprisonment following his recent detention.
Dumbuya made the statement on Monday, 17th February 2026, shortly after his release, when he proceeded directly to the party’s national headquarters in Freetown to address supporters and party executives who had accompanied him.
Speaking to a jubilant crowd of party faithful, he expressed gratitude to the APC’s national executive, general membership, Members of Parliament, councillors, the media, party bloggers, and his legal team for what he described as their unwavering support during his detention. He paid special tribute to Acting National Chairman, Osman Foday Yansaneh, commending his role in securing his release.
In a defiant tone, Dumbuya stated that no amount of intimidation or imprisonment whether associated with Pademba Road Prison or elsewhere would prevent him from expressing his views, particularly concerning the disputed 2023 general elections.
“You can’t intimidate me with Pademba Road,” he declared, drawing cheers from supporters.
He used the occasion to urge party members to remain focused on the forthcoming lower-level elections, emphasizing the importance of ensuring a level playing field for all aspirants. He also cautioned supporters against internal divisions, envy, and discord within the party, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
Dumbuya concluded by calling for unity and discipline among members, stressing the need to concentrate on strengthening the party ahead of the 2028 general elections, when the APC hopes to return to governance.
