The University of Sierra Leone has announced that the deadline for submitting applications for the 2024/2025 academic session is fast approaching.
Prospective students aiming to enroll in the university’s three main campuses—Fourah Bay College (FBC), the College of Medicine and Allied Health Sciences (COMAHS), and the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM)—have until Thursday, October 31, 2024, to complete their applications.
This announcement comes as the university prepares for the upcoming academic year, with thousands of hopeful applicants vying for spots in both undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
While the deadline for undergraduate applications is fixed, the university has confirmed that postgraduate applications will remain open until further notice, providing more flexibility for those interested in advanced degrees.
In a bid to widen access to education, the University of Sierra Leone has also expanded its eLearning offerings, particularly at the master’s level.
The institution is now accepting applications for online master’s programs in Business Administration, Journalism and Media Studies, Communication, and Development Studies, as well as Public Relations and Marketing Communication.
This move is expected to attract professionals looking for flexible study options, especially in the face of the evolving demands of the job market.Applicants can obtain their application Personal Identification Numbers (PINs) at several major banks, including the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank, Commerce and Mortgage Bank (CMB), Rokel Commercial Bank, and Union Trust Bank, either in Freetown or at their regional branches.
The cost of these PINs has been set at NLe 500 for undergraduate programs and NLe 600 for postgraduate programs. The university urges all prospective students to thoroughly review the entry requirements for their chosen programs by visiting the institution’s official website at www.usl.edu.sl.
It is critical for applicants to meet the academic criteria set out by the various faculties and departments, as competition for places is likely to be fierce.
A special note has been issued for applicants who previously applied under the “awaiting results” category. With results now available, these candidates are required to upload their final grades to the university portal before the reopening of the colleges.
This will ensure that their applications are considered alongside other complete submissions.Additionally, the university has clarified the status of its diploma and certificate programs, stating that these courses are terminal.
However, graduates from these programs wishing to advance to degree-level studies must first meet the university’s minimum entry requirements.
The announcement concludes with a reminder for all applicants to adhere to the deadlines and guidelines provided to ensure the smooth processing of their applications.
