Ummah Welfare Trust Honors 77 Students for Completing Quran Memorization

On Sunday, February 22, 2026, Ansar Islamic College in Kissy Dock Yard hosted a graduation ceremony for 77 students who successfully memorized the entire Quran.

The event, organized by Ummah Welfare Trust under the Quranic Tarbiyah (QT) project, carried the theme “Nurturing a Quranic Generation.” Among the graduates were 56 boys and 21 girls.

The ceremony began at 10:00 AM with a Quranic recitation by one of the graduates, followed by opening remarks from Shaykh Fuad Kamara and representatives of the QT project, including Manager Turay and Shaykh Seray Bah, who highlighted the rigorous training that led to this milestone. Shaykh Jagitay provided an overview of the Tahfidh program, which guided the students through their memorization journey.

The keynote address was delivered by Shaykh Faruk Adam Bah, who emphasized the importance of applying the Quran’s teachings in daily life. Graduate Saidu A. Kamara’s dedication was highlighted as an example of personal discipline and impact on his family’s faith.

During the graduation ceremony, each student received a certificate and token of appreciation, with many parents expressing pride and joy. Alhaji Musa Tarawally praised the resilience of the youth and acknowledged the contributions of staff and donors in sustaining the project. The event also featured prominent religious leaders, including Shaykh Zaki Kallon.

The ceremony concluded with a student speech and a Dua for the graduates, sponsors, and the wider community. Dates were distributed as gifts for Iftar, marking the close of a significant day for Islamic education in Sierra Leone.
