The United States Embassy in Freetown has issued a public notice addressing winners of the Diversity Visa (DV) Lottery, informing them that the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) has begun scheduling visa interviews at the Freetown Embassy for the current DV eligibility period, which ends on September 30, 2025.
In its announcement, the Embassy reminded applicants of ongoing visa restrictions, noting that Sierra Leonean nationals remain ineligible to receive a Diversity Visa at this time due to the current limitations in place.
The Embassy further emphasized that approval of any DV application is partially contingent on the completion of medical examinations, the results of which may take up to eight weeks to be processed and received.
The notice serves as a caution to applicants to remain informed and realistic about timelines and eligibility criteria. It also highlights the importance of ensuring all requirements, including medical documentation, are completed promptly to avoid delays that may jeopardize visa issuance within the designated eligibility window.
DV applicants are advised to monitor official channels and maintain communication with the U.S. Embassy for further updates.
