In a move aimed at addressing discrepancies in its membership database, the National Executive of the Party has imposed a temporary halt on new member registrations and membership dues payments. This decision comes after uncovering several issues, including inconsistencies in the database, temporary registrations by the Interim Transition Governance Committee (ITGC), duplication of registration numbers, and a backlog of unprocessed membership applications. Additionally, there has been a proliferation of counterfeit membership cards and subscription receipts.

To rectify these issues and ensure a transparent and fair registration process, the Secretariat has developed a new software system from scratch. This system, designed to handle membership registration, manage the Party’s official website, and facilitate bulk messaging, has been created in line with the Party’s 2022 Constitution. The development process involved extensive consultations with Secretariat officers, regional and district chairmen, secretaries, and other key stakeholders, incorporating feedback to refine the system.

The new registration and verification process will commence on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, following approval from the National Advisory Committee (NAC). A grand launching ceremony will be held at the Party Headquarters in Freetown at 12 PM, with similar events scheduled in other districts as outlined in the attached itinerary.

All Party executives and members at various levels are required to attend. The registration and verification methodology includes:

1.Verification/Re-registration of Executives: This will be conducted across all organizational levels, including polling centers, wards, constituencies, districts, regions, and the diaspora, over a 90-day period.

2.Verification and Re-registration of Existing Members: Existing members must present themselves for verification within a year from the start date. Failure to do so will result in removal from the Membership Register, although late presenters will be registered as new members.

3. Registration of New Members: Applications will be considered continuously from individuals who meet the Constitutional requirements and have a party guarantor.

Membership is classified into four categories:

• Honorary Foundation Member: For distinguished figures such as former Presidents and National Chairmen.

• Patron Member: Open to Sierra Leoneans who pay an annual subscription.

• Honorary Executive Member: Available to Sierra Leoneans with an annual subscription.

• Ordinary Member: Open to any Sierra Leonean with an annual subscription.

• Associate Membership: Reserved for registered organizations, with rules to be developed.

The new system is designed to ensure greater accuracy and efficiency in membership management, reflecting the Party’s commitment to organizational integrity and transparency.
