While the ruling Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) continues to highlight single-digit inflation and improvements in living conditions, a recent nationwide survey by Arthur Pearce & Co suggests that many citizens are still facing significant economic challenges.

The survey, conducted in August, examined the impact of government policies, including the Feed Salone initiative, on households across the country. Findings indicate that rising food prices are affecting access to staples such as rice and essential vegetables, with the program having minimal measurable effect on easing the burden for ordinary Sierra Leoneans.

Arthur Pearce & Co emphasized that the reality on the ground contrasts sharply with official narratives of progress. The firm called for greater honesty and accountability from government officials, asserting that citizens deserve an accurate understanding of the nation’s economic conditions.

The report underscores growing concerns over the disparity between government-reported statistics and the lived experiences of the population, highlighting the need for effective policy implementation to address rising living costs and food insecurity.
