The Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) has announced a temporary closure of the Upgun Roundabout – Bai Bureh Road intersection. The closure is scheduled to begin at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, June 28, 2024, and will last until 10:00 a.m. on Sunday, June 30, 2024.

This closure is necessary for a significant maintenance intervention aimed at rehabilitating damaged slabs along the cross drain at the intersection. The maintenance work is part of the SLRA’s ongoing efforts to improve road infrastructure and ensure the safety and efficiency of the road network.

Motorists and pedestrians are advised to use alternative routes during the maintenance period to avoid inconvenience. The SLRA has expressed regret for any disruption this may cause and assures the public that the intervention is crucial for long-term road safety and durability.

“We understand that this closure may cause some inconvenience to the general public, and we apologise for that,” said a spokesperson from the SLRA. “However, the maintenance work is essential to address the current damage and prevent further deterioration, ensuring the intersection remains safe and functional for all users.”

The SLRA encourages the public to plan their journeys in advance and to follow any signage or directions provided to facilitate smooth traffic flow during the closure. The authority remains committed to maintaining and improving the country’s road infrastructure and appreciates the public’s understanding and cooperation. This information is coming from the management of the SLRA.

The Sierra Leone Roads Authority is responsible for the planning, development, and maintenance of the road network in Sierra Leone. The Authority’s mission is to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient road transport for the country’s socio-economic development.
