The Director General of the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA), Mr. Yankuba Askia Bio, has successfully resolved the industrial strike action by the Sierra Leone Indigenous Transport Owners Association (ITOA) at the Freetown Port, Queen Elizabeth II Quay.

The transporters had earlier withdrawn their services, citing an unfavourable working environment, a move that disrupted port operations. The situation prompted the intervention of Mr. Bio, who engaged the leadership of the association and appealed for a resumption of services in the interest of port efficiency and national economic activity.

During the engagement, the Director General commended members of ITOA for their continued support and their critical role in port operations. He assured them that SLPHA management would review their concerns and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address the issues raised.

In a related development, Mr. Bio, with support from other key stakeholders, also addressed persistent traffic congestion along Bai Bureh Road leading to the Freetown Port and surrounding areas. The initiative aims to improve access, safety, and the smooth flow of port-related activities.
