The Sierra Leone Maritime Administration (SLMA) has once again demonstrated its commitment to developing the country’s maritime workforce by sending another young professional to the international stage.

In a brief ceremony at the Administration’s headquarters, Executive Director Dr. Daniel Kaitibi presented a Seafarer’s Discharge Book to Mr. Osman Ela Sow, a graduate of the College of Business and Maritime Studies.

Mr. Sow, who successfully completed Maritime Studies and the Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW), has secured his first international employment as an engine engineer on board the Saudi Arabian vessel Bahri Munira, where he will serve for six months.

Congratulating the young seafarer, Dr. Kaitibi urged him to seize the opportunity and represent Sierra Leone with pride. He noted that the achievement reflects the growing prospects in the maritime industry and assured that SLMA remains committed to creating similar opportunities for other Sierra Leoneans.

“This is not only a personal milestone for Osman but also a testament to the potential of our young people in the maritime profession. We want him to serve as an example and inspiration for many others who wish to follow this career path,” Dr. Kaitibi said.

The SLMA hopes that Osman’s journey will encourage more Sierra Leoneans to consider careers in seafaring and that he will rise through the ranks to become a strong representative of the nation in the global maritime sector.
