SLFA Wins Appeal: Sierra Leone U17 Team Reinstated For WAFU Tournament

The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) is pleased to announce that our national U17 team has been officially reinstated and cleared to participate in the ongoing U17 WAFU Tournament, following a successful appeal concerning the recent MRI test results of five of our players in Senegal.
After our initial appeal, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the West African Football Union (WAFU) conducted a retest of the five players in question. The results of the retest confirmed that two of the five players passed, which now provides Sierra Leone with the threshold pass required under Article 27.4 of the U17 Africa Cup of Nations Regulations.

As a result, Sierra Leone’s U17 team has been reinstated into the tournament, and we look forward to our young ambassadors competing and showcasing their talents on the continental stage.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the general public, football fans in Sierra Leone, and supporters from around the world who stood by us throughout this period, advocating for fairness and justice for our team. Your unwavering support played a crucial role in achieving this positive outcome.
Additionally, we would like to thank CAF and WAFU for their professionalism and commitment to upholding the regulations of the competition. By ensuring that a fair and transparent process was followed, the organizers have demonstrated their dedication to the integrity of African football.
We wish our U17 team great success in the tournament ahead and reaffirm our confidence in their ability to represent Sierra Leone with pride and distinction.
