Newly elected Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) President Babadi Kamara has unveiled an ambitious plan to transform football across the country, pledging significant investment in infrastructure, grassroots programmes, and women’s football.
Speaking during his first public appearance on AYV Television’s Wake Up Salone, Kamara said his administration will prioritize the construction and rehabilitation of football facilities nationwide, with a focus on creating a conducive environment for player development.
He also revealed plans to modernize the Sierra Leone Premier League calendar to align with international schedules, improve youth academies, and expand training opportunities for coaches and referees.
“We have to build the foundation if we want sustainable success. This means quality pitches, structured youth leagues, and the right technical support for both men’s and women’s football,” Kamara explained.
The SLFA President stressed that his vision will require collaboration between the association, government, and private sector partners, adding that he is committed to making football a unifying and economically viable sport in Sierra Leone.
