In a heartfelt message to the nation’s football community, Babadi Kamara, President of the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA), has extended warm greetings to all players, coaches, referees, administrators, supporters, and partners as the country observes the sacred seasons of Ramadan and Lent.

In his message, President Kamara emphasized the importance of these holy periods, noting that they hold profound significance for millions of Sierra Leoneans and remind everyone of timeless virtues such as sacrifice, humility, compassion, and devotion to God.

“These are seasons that call us to pause, reflect, and renew our commitment not only to our faith but also to our shared humanity,” Kamara said. He highlighted the unifying power of football, stressing that the sport transcends religion, tribe, region, and background, serving as a bridge that inspires hope, strengthens peace, and fosters unity across the nation.

President Kamara encouraged the football family to embrace the spiritual essence of these seasons, promoting forgiveness, reconciliation, tolerance, and service to humanity. He also called on all members to let their conduct on and off the pitch reflect the values of discipline, respect, fairness, and teamwork taught by Ramadan and Lent.

The SLFA President concluded his message with prayers for both Muslim and Christian communities:

To Muslims observing Ramadan, he wished that Allah accepts their fasting, prayers, and sacrifices, and grants them good health, patience, and abundant blessings.

To Christians observing Lent, he prayed that the season of prayer, repentance, and renewal brings them closer to God and strengthens their faith with divine grace and peace.

“On behalf of the Sierra Leone Football Association and in my personal capacity, I pray that this sacred season brings healing to our hearts, harmony to our communities, and renewed hope for the growth and success of football in Sierra Leone,” Kamara said.

He concluded by wishing the entire football family a Ramadan Mubarak and a blessed, peaceful, and spiritually fulfilling Lenten Season.
