The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) on Friday, January 30, disbursed the first tranche of its annual subvention to the country’s five Regional Football Associations, with each region receiving US$25,000, equivalent to NLe 567,500. This amount represents 50 percent of the approved annual allocation for each region.

The disbursement follows a recent decision by the President Babadi Kamara-led Executive Committee to increase regional funding from US$15,000 to US$50,000 annually, a move aimed at easing the financial burden on the regions and strengthening grassroots football development nationwide.

The SLFA reaffirmed its commitment to empowering the regions as a key pillar of football growth in Sierra Leone, noting that the remaining balance of the annual subvention will be released later in the year in line with established financial and administrative guidelines.
