The Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) has established an Adhoc Committee to investigate allegations of neglect surrounding the circumstances that led to the death of former Mighty Blackpool FC player, Bureh Ganso Koroma.
The decision was announced in a press release issued on Thursday, 27th November 2025.
According to the SLFA, the move was taken by the Executive Committee in line with Article 55 of the SLFA Statutes, following growing public concerns over the incident. Koroma sustained severe injuries in May 2025 during an on-pitch collision in a friendly match between Leone Stars and Mighty Blackpool FC. His condition reportedly deteriorated months later, leading to his untimely death.
The Adhoc Committee has been mandated to conduct an independent and comprehensive investigation into the matter, particularly allegations that officials of the SLFA and the National Men’s Team failed to provide adequate support to the injured player. The Committee will also make recommendations aimed at strengthening player welfare and preventing similar incidents in the future.
The five-member Committee includes:
Mr. Victor Idrissa Lansana – Chairman
Mr. Sadick Deen Nyarkoh – Vice Chairman
Dr. Joseph Edwin Kanu – Member
Alhaji Abubakarr S. A. Rahman – Member
Ms. Victoria Conteh – Member
The Committee is expected to begin work immediately and submit its findings and recommendations to the SLFA Executive Committee within the stipulated timeframe.
Meanwhile, the SLFA reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the highest standards of player welfare, safety, and professional conduct across all levels of football in Sierra Leone, noting that the investigation is part of broader efforts to ensure accountability and transparency within the sport.
