Sierra Leone Police Arrested Alleged Nigeria Killer...After Declared Wanted by Nigeria Police

In a swift response by the security sector of Sierra Leone, the Criminal Investigations Department of the Sierra Leone Police Force on Friday 20th October 2023, arrested a 26-year- Old Nigerian Real Estate Agent, Nnanyereugo Benjamin Best that has been declared wanted by the Lagos State Police command on October 10th, 2023, for allegedly killing a student of Lead City University, Ibadan, on July 13th, 2023.


Nnanyereugo Benjamin Best had been accused of killing a 21-year-old Augusta Onuwabhagbe Osedion, during an argument which led to her stabbing on July 13th, 2023, in his Oral Estate, Ajah home.
It was reported that after allegedly committing the dastardly act, the suspect apparently obtained a Sierra Leonean passport and changed his name to Kanu Princeton Samuel before fleeing Nigeria on July 28th 2023.
The photo of the suspect was posted on all social media platforms which made it easy for him to be identified. A Good Samaritan in Sierra Leone was said to have identified him and contacted the mother of the victim through social media.
The mother reached out to her lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN) who assisted the family to contact the Sierra Leonean police authorities.
When it was confirmed that he had fled the country, the Lagos State Police commissioner, Mr idowu Ohonbunwa, directed the Lagos State Police Command to declare him wanted. Best was declared wanted on October 10th, 2023.
“The Sierra Leonean police immediately commenced a man hunt for Best Nnanyereugo Benjamin. The mother of the deceased dispatched a family member to Freetown who was able to work with the police and the suspect was arrested on Friday 20th October 2023, at a club in Freetown and he is currently being detained to await extradition,” said a government official.
Sierra Leone police refused to comment in detail.
