In a recent development, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Sierra Leone has concluded its investigation into the procurement of vehicles by the Sierra Leone Commercial Bank (SLCB). The Managing Director, Yusufu Abdul Silla, has been cleared of any criminal or financial misappropriation regarding the purchase of fifteen operational vehicles and an official vehicle for his use.

The ACC, in its findings, determined that while there were administrative breaches in the procurement process, there was no evidence of criminal intent on the part of the Managing Director. The vehicles in question were confirmed to be brand new, contradicting previous media reports alleging financial misappropriation.

According to sources familiar with the matter, the purchase of these vehicles has proven beneficial for the bank, saving substantial costs that were previously allocated to rentals for daily operations.

In response to the investigation’s findings, the ACC has recommended to the Board of Directors of SLCB to implement stricter measures to ensure thorough administrative supervision in future procurement processes, aiming to prevent similar incidents from occurring.
