Sierra Leone Commercial Bank MD Bags State House Award

The hard-working result-oriented Managing Director of Sierra Leone Commercial Bank Limited, Abdulai Fidelis Turay, was among distinguished Sierra Leoneans from all walks of life that were honoured with the Commander of the Order of the Rokel award by His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio on the the occasion of Sierra Leone’s Sixtieth Independence Anniversary.

A proud Fidelis Turay was quick to dedicate the award to the Board, Management and Staff who in the years that he has been at the helm of affairs at SLCB worked with him to main the bank’s position as the number one commercial bank. He also dedicated the award to all the customers of the bank.

In its steady upward growth trajectory, in 2018 SLCB recorded pre-tax profit of Le79.5 billion which management said was achieved in the the face of fierce industry competition and a sluggish economy. Because of excellent management, sound ethical operational culture and teamwork, SLCB for the first time in history surpassed the one hundred billion Leone’s pre-tax mark in its 2019 annual statement. Over the past five years, SLCB has spent elaborately on cutting edge banking technologies and staff training to achieve enhanced performance and customer satisfaction.

In the process, SLCB under the leadership of Fidelis Turay has succeeded in deepening financial  inclusion through rolling out safe secure mobile platforms including community banking kiosks at Goderich, Wilberforce and Jui in a bid to take banking to the doorsteps of the un-served.

A bank with a highly developed sense of corporate social responsibility, SLCB in July 2020 boosted the work of the National Covid-19 Emergency Response Centre (NACOVERC), with the sum of Five Hundred Million Leones (Le500,000,000) as its contribution in the fight against coronavirus in the country.

The bank was the first institution from both the public and private sectors to take the lead in embarking on massive sensitization of the people, about the “dos and don’ts” in the prevention and fight against the disease in the Western Area.
