All roads lead to the Country Lodge Hotel, Hill Station in Freetown, where the Maiden Awards Night of the Sierra Leone Bar Association takes place tonight, Friday 10th December, 2021.
The auspicious, colourful and exciting occasion will attract a galaxy of the crème-de-la-crème of society under the distinguished Grand Chief Patronage of the Hon. Chief Justice Babatunde Edwards.
According to the Sierra Leone Bar Association President, Michaela Swallow Esq. the night will be a beautiful night full with fine dining, wining and dancing while the climax of it all would be the presentation of awards to legal luminaries and other people recognized for their unblemished work for humanity.
She noted that a prestigious award will be presented to the nominees for Lifetime Achievement in the Legal Profession; recognising the oldest practising Barristers and the work they have done towards the legal profession. There will be two awards in this category; Male and Female.
She maintained that a Meritorious Award for recognition of service as State Counsel serving thirty years and above would also be presented.
Awards would also be presented for Best Pro Bono Institution and Outstanding Advocacy for Women and Girls.
The Bar President revealed that Honourary Award to past presidents for dedicated and selfless service to the legal profession will also be presented.
A special ‘Michaela Swallow’ Award would be presented to the Best Female all-round Proficiency at Law school.
She further noted that different awards including SLBA AWARD for the Most Senior Solicitor’s Clerk; SLBA
AWARD for Best Dressed Solicitor’s Clerk; SLBA AWARD for Best Customer Service Registry Officer (Male); in addition to SLBA AWARD for Best Customer Service Registry Officer (Female).
Other awards include SLBA AWARD
for Most Outstanding pupil for Professional Conduct and Ethics (Male); SLBA AWARD for Most Outstanding Pupil
for Professional conduct and Ethics (Female) and Star Pupil Award in recognition of all-round excellence at the Sierra Leone Law School Exams.
She revealed that the SLBA Awards night will indeed be explosive and a never-forgotten experience.
Some new lawyers stated that, they are very excited and cannot wait to attend as all these years, they have been working earnestly and are harnessing the thought of receiving a prestigious award which will ignite and motivate them to continue doing a good and ethical job.
