The final farewell and celebration for the Zhejiang A and F University Hangzhou China year 2020/2021 graduating students was a glamorous event; an evening to remember at the Kona Lodge in Freetown. The graduation dinner was organized in celebration of Sierra Leonean students who have been studying in China over the years.
Speaking on behalf of her colleagues, the current Vice President of the Sierra Leone Students Union in ZAFU, Bintu Aminata Sisay said she is honoured and delighted to be among the graduating students. She welcomed and thanked their parents, guardians, friends and loved ones for their support and love during their years of study in China. She thanked members of Zhejiang A and F University Hangzhou China and staff for their guidance and patience, noting that their time at the University is an unforgettable journey that prepared them for the future.
She noted that over 500 students graduated with 20 Sierra Leonean students of which the remaining number are still in China and will be graduating there. She further said that the graduation in Sierra Leone students is a combination of both classes of 2020 and 2021.
Paul Bengah, former Student Union President, part of the 2020 graduating students said the Graduation Dinner was a true celebration of the individual families of the students and their extended families. He noted that it was abundantly clear how close this group of students have become since they entered the university, adding that it was heart-warming to see genuine care and respect for each other.
Guests enjoyed a delicious dinner along with the presentation of Certificates to each student. Exceptional speeches came from the graduating students about their life in the University and in China.
The Zhejiang Agricultural and Forestry University in Hangzhou China was established in 1958 and since then has gotten about 18,000 students. The University offers different courses which include International Trade and Economics, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Computer Engineering.
Several guests of honour present and who distributed Degree Certificates to the graduating classes of 2020/2021 were Hon. Minkailu Mansaray, Hon. Bintu Myers, Mr. Robert Koroma, Director of Public Prosecution Easmon, N.B. Ngakui Esq. and Dr. John Mohamed Koroma.
