Public Notices from the National Revenue Authority for New SLITAS, TIN Registration for Taxpayers, Importers and Use of Web-Based Portal Services

As part of the implementation of the Sierra Leone Integrated Tax Administration System (SLITAS), a new Tax Identification Number (TIN) will be issued out to all individuals and organizations doing business with the National Revenue Authority (NRA). This means that the old TIN will be replaced with the new TIN for both importers and other taxpayers.

In this regard, all taxpayers including importers should ensure they visit the NRA at 17 Wellington Street, Freetown to update their records and register for the new TIN. Applicants should come along with the following documents:

INDIVIDUALS

Individuals should provide correct emails and mobile phone number(s) together with the following listed documents:

  • National Identification Card (NID)/Voters ID Card for Sierra Leoneans
  • In addition, Self-employed persons, Sole Proprietors and Partners should also bring along Registration Certificate from a Regulatory Body (Business Registration Name and Certificates)
  • National Passport and Resident Permit for foreigners.

ORGANIZATIONS

Organizations should provide correct email addresses and phone numbers, at least one principal Director and Shareholder details (names, contact and TIN) should be provided with the following listed documents.

  • Certificate of Registration, Memorandum and Article of Association,
  • Extract from Act of Parliament, Letter from Head of Institution for Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

The public should also be informed that all taxpayers and institutions that have been trained on the use of the SLITAS as part of the pilot phase roll out with effect from Monday 1st March 2021 shall commence the use of the portal web-based services. Please ensure that your emails and telephone numbers are correct so that your access code can be sent to you to access our online services for both filing of tax returns and payment of taxes.

Taxpayers who may require special assistance to do their tax return, payment of taxes and other web-based services provided by SLITAS should come to our taxpayers Direct Input Centre (TDIC), Domestic Tax Domestic Office at 19 Wellington Street within working hours on Mondays to Fridays to their input, file returns and pay taxes accordingly.

Furthermore, all taxpayers who have not validated their information with the Domestic Tax Department are encouraged to do so immediately so that they can be able to use the system during and after the pilot phase of the project roll-out.
