Today, April 21, 2024, marks a momentous occasion for the esteemed Prince of Wales School as it commemorates its 99th anniversary with a grand Thanksgiving Service. The service, held at the Church of the Holy Trinity on Kissy Road and Foulah Mosque at Magazine Cut, commenced at 2:00 pm.
Under the theme “Thy Latter End Should Greatly Increase,” derived from Job 8:6-7, attendees were inspired by the message delivered by Princewalean Pastor Michael Francis Walker of the Harvestfield Praise Chapel Ministry. Christopher Wallace-Johnson conducted the proceedings, adding to the solemnity and reverence of the occasion.
Founded on April 6, 1925, during the visit of then Prince of Wales, HRH Prince Edward David, the school has been a beacon of excellence in education for nearly a century. Originally established to promote science education and modern languages, the institution has evolved into a nurturing ground for future leaders across various fields.
The distinguished alumni have excelled in Medicine, Law, Engineering, and Information Technology for many years.
In a display of solidarity and celebration, the Thanksgiving Service will be followed by a vibrant march through the streets of Freetown. The Prince of Wales School’s brass band will lead the procession, joined by brass bands from other schools, symbolizing unity and camaraderie in anticipation of next year’s centenary celebrations.
As the Prince of Wales School prepares to mark a century of academic excellence and leadership, it also serves as a reminder of the potential for growth and development within Sierra Leone. Today’s event not only celebrates the past but also sets the stage for a brighter future
