February 1, 2025, marks the dawn of a historic milestone as the Prince of Wales Secondary School Commenced its 100th-anniversary celebrations with a vibrant float parade. The event unite generations of alumni and current students, honors a century of academic excellence and community impact.

The festivities saw participants from across Freetown gathered at two key assembly points: alumni and supporters from the city’s eastern districts converged at the iconic Eastern Police Clock Tower, while those from the west assembled at the Lumley Roundabout.

Both groups embarked on a spirited procession toward the school’s Kingtom grounds, where a day of festivities was observed, including speeches,exhibitions showcasing the institution’s storied legacy.

Dr. Walton Ekundayo Gilpin, Chairman of the School’s Board of Directors, emphasized the significance of the occasion, stating, *“Prince of Wales is more than an educational institution—it embodies the resilience and vision of a nation dedicated to nurturing leaders and innovators. As we celebrate this centenary, we call on our global alumni network to join us in revitalizing the school’s infrastructure and programs, ensuring it continues to inspire future generations.”

Founded in 1925, the school has produced notable figures in Sierra Leonean politics, science, and the arts. The jubilee celebrations aim to spotlight its contributions to national development while rallying support for ongoing initiatives to preserve its historic campus.
