The Premier League Board (PLB) has issued a statement regarding the recent detention of key Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) officials by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

The ACC has taken in SLFA President Thomas Daddy Brima, Acting Secretary General Mohamed Benson Bawoh, and Finance Officer Ibrahim Bah for questioning in an ongoing investigation. While the PLB expressed solidarity with the football leadership, it emphasized the need for a swift and transparent resolution to the matter.

“We stand with the SLFA leadership during this period and remain hopeful for a prompt and fair investigation that will lead to the resolution of the case and the possible release of the President, Acting Secretary General, and Finance Officer,” the PLB stated.

Amid growing discussions on social media about the potential suspension of the Leone Rock Premier League, the PLB has clarified that the ongoing investigations will not affect league operations.

“While we understand the concerns raised by stakeholders, we urge all parties to act responsibly in the best interest of the league and football in Sierra Leone,” the Board noted.

The PLB confirmed that all scheduled matches will proceed as planned, assuring clubs, players, officials, and fans of an uninterrupted league season.

The Board reiterated its commitment to maintaining the smooth and professional running of the league, urging all involved to remain focused on football while legal processes unfold.

“We call on clubs, players, officials, and stakeholders to continue supporting the league and allow the due legal procedures to take their course,” the statement concluded.
