
The Political Parties Regulation Commission (PPRC) has announced the suspension of lower-level elections of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) in multiple districts following a wave of petitions from party members.
The decision comes as part of the Commission’s mandate to ensure fair internal party processes and resolve disputes.
According to a public notice issued by the Commission, hearings on these petitions will commence on Monday, February 24, 2025, at the PPRC Conference Room, Tower Hill, Freetown.
The hearings will address complaints from various constituencies across the country, leading to a temporary suspension of elections in the affected areas.
The schedule for the hearings is as follows:
Monday, February 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM:Western Area Rural & Urban Constituencies: 105, 106, 107, 108, 113, 116, 123, 124, 127, 130, and 131.
Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 10:00 AM:
Moyamba District: Constituency 095
Bo District: Constituencies 086 & 087Kailahun District: Constituency 008
Bombali District: Constituency 038
Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 10:00 AM:
Kono District: Constituencies 022, 023, 024, 025, 026, 027, 028, and 029.
Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 10:00 AM:
Kenema District: Constituencies 011, 013, 015, 018, and 019.
Friday, February 28, 2025, at 10:00 AM:
Port Loko District: All Constituencies.
The PPRC has called on all National Officers, members of the District Elections Complaint Committee (RECC), petitioners, constituency representatives, and chieftaincy executives to be present for the hearings.
All concerned parties are required to provide supporting documents to substantiate their claims.Additionally, the Commission has reaffirmed its prior directive from February 20, 2025, that elections in the following constituencies remain on hold pending further review:
Bo District: Constituency 086
Western Urban: Constituency 118
Bombali District: Constituency 037
