The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) have announced a major breakthrough in their ongoing investigation into violent robberies in Bo and Kenema, which left Reverend Father Augustine Dauda Amadu dead and Mr. John Lamina critically injured.

According to police sources, six men are now in custody following targeted operations carried out in recent days. The suspects have been identified as Gbassay Swarray, alias Success, who has long been linked to a murder case in Moyamba; Joseph Kamagy Kamara, alias Shine; and Martin Sallu, an ex-convict. Also arrested were Joseph Bangalie, alias Boika, another ex-convict with a record of felonious crimes; Foday Sallu; and Foday Hassan Sesay, who was allegedly caught with one of the stolen items belonging to Mr. Lamina.

During the operations, police recovered firearms and several housebreaking tools believed to have been used in the attacks. Investigators say the seized weapons and materials will form part of the evidence against the suspects.

The SLP stressed that inquiries are far from over, noting that more arrests could follow as the investigation deepens. Police officials also commended members of the public who provided critical information that aided the arrests, urging communities to remain vigilant and continue cooperating with law enforcement to strengthen public safety.
