In the recent past, the Consultant State Counsel in the Office of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Lawyer Momoh Farma, intimated journalists, among other things, that Persons of Interest, who were found wanting according the Government White Paper on the recommendations of the Commissions of Inquiry set up by the current SLPP led Government, after filing their appeals in the High Court and if they. lose those appeals would be considered as convicts.
His utterance, which he made during a Press Conference held at the Ministry of Information and Communications Conference Hall, Youyi Building has ignited a sharp criticism from one of the country’s formidable Think Tanks cum Civil Society Organization, Legal Link-Sierra Leone.
The Legal Link Team deemed the statement as not only completely erroneous but entirely misleading saying it is totally out of context as far as legality is concerned.
It then went further to school the State Counsel in the area of procedural processes that have to do with the powers of a Commission of Inquiry and what entails in the processing of appeal cases.
