The Parliament of Sierra Leone has approved the newly appointed Director General of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) on Thursday 7th , March 2024.
Josephine Kamara replaces Joseph Kapuwa as the new Director-General of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC).
Kapuwa took over as the SLBC Director-General in 2018 following his appointment by President Julius Maada Bio and subsequent approval by the Parliament of Sierra Leone.
Josephine, a development communications and journalism expert, began her career at SLBC and has since worked for Voice of America, USAID, and other institutions in various capacities.
Speaking in the well of Parliament, Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh said other radio and television stations have taken over the SLBC. He urged the SLBC management to generate revenue by preventing over the counter payments.
Hon. Papa Bangura called on the Director General to take care of the welfare of SLBC Staff and to depoliticize the Sierra Leone Broadcasting corporation.
