As a way of making life easy for all Sierra Leoneans, Orange Sierra Leone has June 2023 launched Orange Money Card at the main Headquarters, Hill Station, in Freetown.
The Orange Money Card is an innovative Card established to be used by both Orange and non-Orange users to carry out simple banking operations and transactions very quickly and safely. It does not require a bank account or an Orange network user.
The Head of Strategy, Partnership, and Marketing, Mrs Abibatu Baxter explained how the Card would be important to every Sierra Leonean in their Banking system. She said that the Card will be used to buy foodstuffs at any given time. ” The beauty about this Orange Money Card is that you can store money on it and use it to buy foodstuff at any given time. You can even send your child to buy it. Usually, when we give money to our children to buy something, it’s either they lose it or they steal the money from them. But now, you can just give them the card and they are good to go”, she said. She further explained that the Card is now the freedom of Freetown.
The Chief Executive Officer of Orange Money, Mr. David S. Mansaray in his statement appreciated everyone for leaving their busy schedules to attend the launching. He explained that Orange has more in store for the people of Sierra Leone. He continued that the Company has brought many good things to the people of Sierra Leone and that they will continue on that trajectory.
He said that the Card would be used for reversals. “Of course, we have a barrage of goods in store for the people of this country. We are the best in Sierra Leone. We have been doing it and we will continue bringing good things to the people of Sierra Leone”. He furthered that the card is there to ease the stress of all Sierra Leoneans. He emphasized that the Card is for everyone whether you are an Orange Subscriber or not. He ended by pleading with everyone to get the Card and make use of the opportunity.
Haffie Haffner, the Chief Commercial Officer said that the Company is there to impact the lives of Sierra Leoneans. She said that giving back to society is one of their corporate social responsibilities. She highlighted some of the good things they have done including 4G, cheap data, Orange Money, and now Orange Money Card for all Sierra Leoneans. ” Today, another baby is coming to light. You don’t need an Orange Sim Card to have access to the Orange Money Card. You can access the Card and use it as you so wish”, she lamented.
She continued that the Card is to bridge the financial gap in the banking system. “You cannot suffer to use your own hard-earned money as always in the bank or anywhere else. Orange Money Card is here to stay and change the livelihoods of every Sierra Leonean”, she ended.
The Assistant Marketing and Project Manager, Naomi Kabia did a Product Demo by explaining when and how the Card works. She said that you can purchase the Card from any of the Orange Offices for the sum of ten Leones (Le10). According to the Demo, the card has so many flexibilities between the customers, agents and the phone. She said that one can just go to the customer who already has the Orange Money app and scan their Card. By so doing, all your details will register and the transaction will be made easy. She continued that the Card is not about your password or what have you. According to her, no one including your wife can take money from your Card without your consent because the agent will call you for confirmation. “The beauty about this card is that even your wife will not steal from it because wherever she goes with it the agent will call for confirmation. She ended by reaffirming that the Orange Money Card is the freedom of all Sierra Leoneans. AT/14/6/2023
