By Melvin Richard Babin

One of the leading telecommunications networks in Sierra Leone, Orange has on Thursday 13th October 2022, launched its 538-commercial site with the aim of providing accessible and affordable communication for the people of Sierra Leone at mile 91 during an event that attract stakeholders within and outside the community.

Speaking during the event, the Regional Commercial Manager of Orange Sierra Leone, Mr. Augustus Bendu, affirmed that the launch of this commercial site will create easy access for residents of mile 91, using Orange Sierra Leone Services.

He also added that the said commercial site is not a property of Orange-SL but instead it’s a property of the people of mile 91. He therefore urged them to protect it as theirs.

According to LUC Madam Tity Lansana, a police officer who is a representative of the police institute stated that there is poor communication between the police and the people, she acknowledged that she is happy that Orange-SL has decided to fix all the flaws of communication in the town.

She further stated that she admonishes the people to behave themselves especially their children and also the Orange-SL officials should cooperate with the security team.

She concluded that as the Orange-SL Officials rely on them, they will ensure that the officials are safe during their stay in the town.

Honourable Aaron Koroma, of constituency 048 noted that it’s a very unique day because Orange-SL is the only company in Yonnie, which is a mobile telecommunication company that do not collocate here like other companies.

He noted that all other companies, including other telecommunication company and so many more have never succeeded in erecting posts here; except Orange-SL – so they want to thank them graciously for living up to expectations.

He also added that one of the expectations of a telecommunications company is a quality network system, and that is what they have lived up to.

Orange-SL hasn’t had a good network here for a long time, but they have still lived up to it and so they have thought it right to establish a commercial site here.

The event climaxed with pleasantries and viewing of the site, as well as the taking of pictures between Orange-SL staff and the community people
