The Opposition Chief Whip, Hon. Abdul Karim Kamara, has called for the immediate dismissal of Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Henry Musa Kpaka, citing mismanagement and inefficiencies within key government sectors.
Speaking on Liberty TV’s Breakfast Show, Kamara highlighted alarming concerns in agriculture, health, education, and governance, emphasizing the need for urgent reforms.
At the heart of his critique was the Ministry of Agriculture’s handling of the School Feeding Programme, particularly the distribution of rice to service providers.
Kamara revealed that despite agreements with multiple providers, only Knight Investment received the allocated rice, raising serious concerns about transparency.
He further disclosed that 152 bags of rice remain unaccounted for, while critical farming equipment has been left unused, depriving local farmers of necessary support.
In the health sector, Kamara painted a dire picture of government hospitals, citing a lack of essential medical equipment, power outages, and staffing shortages. He pointed out that departments such as Blood Banks and Mortuaries were severely under-resourced, underscoring the Ministry of Health and Sanitation’s alleged failure to provide quality healthcare services.
The education sector also came under scrutiny, particularly the mishandling of donated resources and tax evasion linked to the School Feeding Programme.
Kamara accused authorities of failing to pay necessary taxes, delaying essential supplies to schools, and mismanaging rice donations from the Republic of China, exposing broader weaknesses in financial oversight.
Additionally, Kamara leveled allegations of financial mismanagement against the Office of the Chief Minister, citing missing documentation, withheld tax payments, and discrepancies in resource allocation.
The Sierra Leone Embassy in Guinea-Conakry was also accused of poor asset management, including the lack of vehicle maintenance records, missing insurance documents, and unaccounted diplomatic resources.
