Education is the main engine of development for a nation and becoming educated is probably the most significant means to achieve individual success.

Even though basic education in Sierra Leone is free and compulsory, the Chief Executive of the National Public Procurement Authority (NPPA) takes pleasure in promoting the government’s most popular and national-centred Free Quality Education implemented by President Julius Maada on 20 August 2022.

On Monday 1 August 2022, the NPPA Chief launched the second edition of the widely known Free Summer School organised by a Foundation named after him (Ibrahim Brima Swarray) targeting Primary, Junior and Senior Secondary Schools in the municipality of Kenema, Eastern Sierra Leone. The Summer School is hosted at Methodist Primary and Secondary Schools, College Secondary School and the Methodist  Girls  High Secondary School in Farma Town from 1 August, to 1 September 2022.

In his keynote speech, Chief Ibrahim Brima Swarray said, the pupils would remember His Excellency, President Dr Julius Maada in decades to come for the Free Quality School Education Programme introduced on August 20, 2018. He explained that President Bio is investing Billions of Leones into the education of the country’s young generation which he said is the most powerful weapon any caring leader would give to their citizens.

He informed a galaxy of pupils that his Foundation’s Quiz and Debate Competitions held across the country including the Free Summer Schools etc. are complements of the President’s flagship project.

The NPPA Boss stressed that the human mind is the fundamental resource any nation would rely on to get its potential. “My Foundation’s objective is to exacerbate nationwide support for Free Quality Education in Pre-Primary, Primary and Secondary Schools, as well as Tertiary Education. The goal of my boss, mentor and President are that all children will be able to complete Basic Education and be prepared to move on to pursue higher education or training as appropriate for citizen development.

Mr Swarray urged pupils to pay more attention to their school work and make use of the Free Quality Education offered by President Bio’s New Direction Government. He said the president chose Free Quality Education and Human Capital Development as the best priorities because the citizens are the most important asset to the country; adding that investing in education is the best way of making people meaningful in society. ” My Foundation chooses to empower the children of this country to be beneficial to their communities, societies and the globe at large. My Foundation wants the best of you and we want to help President Bio in giving you the required skills to be competitive”, he noted.

He concluded that his Foundation is there to nurture, protect and advocate for them and encourage them to concentrate on their studies. He appealed to all eligible voters to come out and Register from 3 September to 4 October 2022 and re-elect President Julius Maada Bio next year. “I am encouraging all parents and guardians to kindly avail themselves during the upcoming coming Voter Registration Exercise from 3 September to 4 October 2022”; he appealed.

Over two thousand pupils from primary, junior and senior secondary schools received exercise books, pens, pencils, erasers etc.

The Secondary School Classes will commence on Monday 8th August 2022. The postponement is due to the ongoing Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) exams at various venues.

Subject teachers were recruited from various Schools in Kenema. The Foundation is led by Mr Mannah Massaquoi and his team.
