The National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) has announced the postponement of the much-anticipated commissioning of the Sewa Grounds Market, which was originally scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 1st July 2025.
In a public notice issued on Monday, NASSIT extended its apologies to the general public, particularly to stakeholders and prospective market users, for any inconvenience the postponement may cause. While no new date has been confirmed, the Trust assured that a revised schedule will be communicated in due course.
The Sewa Grounds Market project, spearheaded by NASSIT, is one of the institution’s major investment initiatives aimed at enhancing commercial infrastructure and promoting socio-economic development in Freetown. The market is expected to provide a modern and secure trading space for hundreds of vendors and contribute to job creation and urban renewal in the central business district.
NASSIT reiterated its commitment to delivering quality social security services and sustainable national development through strategic investments.
The Trust thanked the public for its patience and understanding as arrangements are being made to finalize preparations for the official launch.
